Tana Goertz (born Tana Colaizzi) was one of the candidates for the title of Donald Trump's The Apprentice in the television show's third season. Goertz was 37 when the season was recorded/produced. She ended as the runner-up in the season finale.

Life before the Apprentice

Goertz was the second of John and Deanna Colaizzi's five children. Her father was a salesman, and as a result, the family moved often. She spent her teenage years in Malvern, Pennsylvania and St. Davids and graduated with honors from Archbishop John Carroll High School in Radnor, Pennsylvania in 1985. She later attended Villanova University where she studied business, Brigham Young University, where she was in the Audiology program and the University of Utah where she was accepted into the Nursing program. Goertz did not receive a diploma at any institution and has stated that this is her biggest regret in life.

Prior to her television appearance, she devoted her time to her first marriage and motherhood and was a serial entrepreneur.

Performance

Goertz was introduced on The Apprentice as a mom from Iowa, However, as mentioned earlier, Goertz actually is an East Coaster who originates from Pennsylvania.

As a Season 3 Candidate, Goertz performed very well on the first 13 weeks, but lost her task in Week 14. She served as project manager for Week 5 and led the Net Worth team to victory. Goertz was only a passive hard working figure on Weeks 6 and 7, when Net Worth's losing streak began, before transferring to the Magna team on Week 8. During her tenure with Magna, Goertz also led a victory on Week 11. Her winning came to an end when she was transferred back to Net Worth and lost as Project Manager on Week 14, but she was able to defend herself by bringing up her record of wins as Project Manager, which ultimately got Alex Thomason fired for lying to Trump. Little did she know she was going to land a TV commercial for the BeDazzler on that task making her more famous and a lot of money.

During the interviews, Goertz shone with all of the CEO's especially QVC's Darlene Daggett, but on the final task, she asked Trump for a different team, saying the show gave her "The Three Stooges." for her final team. Trump didn't seem to mind her request but denied her the change.

Post-Apprentice

Goertz aggressively stated that her performance on the final task had nothing to do with her not getting hired by Trump at the end of The Apprentice, and said she was naive to believe Trump would have chosen a "street smart" contestant over someone with "book smarts." She shares with audiences that being on The Apprentice was like winning the lottery and one of the best experiences of her life.

Goertz has received many job offers after the show, but claims to love Iowa so much that she won't move her family away. From her website, www.heytana.com it seems she is keeping herself very busy as a motivational speaker, author, and product spokesperson.

She is currently the star of a TV commercial for the Bedazzler, a product she wanted to use in one of her tasks on The Apprentice, though the commercial doesn't violate any copyright issues by stating what show Tana made the BeDazzler famous again on. Tana's face is on the box and the BeDazzler uses her image and likeness all over the internet including their Twitter site.

Tana and another Apprentice co-contestant (Craig Williams) formed a duo featured on the Reality TV Stars edition of Fear Factor. Her team won a pair of Tivos and $10,000 in an early stunt but did not win the final one.

Goertz is the mother of two children, and the owner of several small businesses. As an entrepreneur, and a sales representative/executive for the Mary Kay Organization where she was the #1 saleswoman for her unit of over 5000 women when she made it on The Apprentice. She often leads motivational seminars at Mary Kay meetings teaching other women how to sell like she does. She states she got her entrepreneurship gene sparked at the age of nine when she begged her Dad to buy her a business and sold telephone accessories strictly at the neighborhood level.

Goertz has been married twice. She speaks to women groups and prisons all over the country openly and honestly about the hardship of her first marriage. Her second husband is Kurtis Gertz, a meteorologist for KCCI-TV television station in Des Moines, Iowa.

Goertz was lucky enough to be written about regarding her optimistic approach to life and her ability to never rest on her laurels by The Apprentice Psychologist Liza Siegel, Ph.D. in a book called Suite Success. Down to earth, she answers almost every correspondence from fans who know her from her stint on The Apprentice.

Her city honored her with "The Keys to the City" of West Des Moines when she came back to Iowa from New York.

She visits Elementary schools teaching the children the importance of following their dreams and being self-confident. She wrote a children's book called I'm Bigger Than This and gave Conan O'Brien's daughter a copy when she appeared on his show.
