Phaya Naga | Josh looks for a naga-like serpent lurking in the Mekong River near the Laos border. A witness from Nong Khai provides photos and video evidence that is compelling yet inconclusive. During the investigation, no naga appears, and Josh speculates it could be giant catfish known to inhabit the river.
103 | Papua New Guinea | Ropen | Josh looks for a nocturnal, Pterodactyl-like creature called the Ropen that lurks the jungles of Papua New Guinea. The creature is said to have a glowing red underbelly or other bioluminescence under its wings. The investigation turns up an unexplained glow flying over a valley. Insects were debunked, and the light remains a mystery. |
Chile | Chupacabra | Josh investigates the legendary Chupacabra, a blood-sucking creature with glowing red eyes. A local zoo keeper suspects the creature is a que-qua, a ferret-like rodent. Josh speaks to witnesses whose chickens may have been killed by the creature. Wiry hair is later found at a cave. Josh also meets a bus driver who claims he hit a chupacabra and left hairs behind. The hair is analyzed and the bus driver's yields unidentifiable DNA. The hair from the cave turn out to be human.
104 | Malaysia | Bigfoot | Josh goes to Malaysia's Endau Rompin National Park to look into Bigfoot reports. A local man tells a bizarre story and that the creature he saw spoke English. In the jungle, a casting of an unusual footprint is made. At night, the team hears strange growls around the camp and later something knocks a camera over. Returning to the city, Josh and his team become the subject of a local media frenzy. Later analysis of the casting is inconclusive as to what made it. |
Argentina | Nahuelito | At Argentina's Nahuel Huapi Lake, Josh searches for a lake monster reminiscent of Nessy. He is led to an island where an abandoned nuclear testing facility is located and a local investigator claims the facility leaks radioactive waste which possibly spawned the creature. Josh spends the night on the lake, but no monster appears. Later, a local geologist explains that small earthquakes from a fault under the lake may create the strange hump-like waves that appear on the water.
105 | South Africa | Mamlambo | Josh and team investigate the banks of the Mzintlava River where a horse-headed fish creature reportedly lurks. The creature is said to appear during thunderstorms and the team experiences a storm while they camp. One member spots something pop up from the water but only the wake is caught on film. Later a floating camera is bumped by something and it films a scaly body under the water. The video is later analyzed by a biologist who concludes it was a crocodile. |
Lesotho | Tokoloshe | Josh and team arrive in Lesotho to investigate the Tokoloshe, an ape-like being with enormous eyes that can appear and vanish like a ghost. It is also said to be attracted to spoiled milk. Local villagers claim the creature lurks in a pair of abandoned buildings so Josh sets up a night surveillance and uses the milk as bait. After many hours, a camera picks up the sudden movement of a bottle which later appears to glow. Josh also has a vial of fat a villager claimed was from the Tokoloshe, which turns out to be chicken fat.
106 | Argentina | El Lobizon | In Argentina, Josh searches for a werewolf, which is of such a concern that the Argentinian president supposedly baptizes the seventh son born in a family to purge the curse. Josh meets a farmer who claims to have captured a Lobizon and sells Josh a bloodstained rope used in the capture. Josh then finds a man whose seventh son was never baptized. Josh monitors the boy overnight and a wolf-like creature is spotted in the area, but the boy however, wasn't the beast. Later, the blood on the rope is identified as human. |
El Pombero | Josh checks out reports of a dwarf-like creature called El Pombero which is said to impregnate woman with a single touch on the belly. The creature is supposedly lured by gifts of cigarettes, liquor and food. It also attacks people who whistle. 201 | Nepal | Yeti | Josh and team head to Mount Everest in search of the Bigfoot-like creature known as the Yeti. They hike the mountain at night, between 9,000 and 11,000 feet, where sighting reports are most common. They later visit a monastery that supposedly has a Yeti scalp, but the monks grant limited access to see it. Because the scalp is sacred to them, the monks refuse to allow a hair sample. Later, the team captures a humanoid-shaped heat signature on the FLIR camera. Tracking the source, they find peculiar footprints and immediately take a casting. Later, a researcher studies the cast, but couldn't determine what made it. |
202 | Tanzania | Pemba Island Haunting | Josh and team go to the African island of Pemba which is reportedly haunted by the tortured spirits of slaves. A local man says the ghosts can be seen at midnight in the ruins of a mosque, and gathering near a certain tree. While the team sets up recording gear, the locals perform a ritual during which two are supposedly possessed and express anger at the team's intrusion. At exactly midnight, strange sounds are heard and the FLIR captures a glowing orb moving near the tree, while an IR camera captures a transparent form in the ruins. The videos are later analyzed by an investigator who says they are good evidence of paranormal activity. |
Mongolia | Death Worm | Josh goes to the Gobi Desert to hunt the Mongolian Death Worm, a creature, 4 feet long, that reportedly secretes acid and shoots electricity. The team is directed to an abandoned village in the southern desert whose inhabitants reportedly fled because of the worm. Once there, the team checks out movement in a burrow hole, but no creature is found. At night, a team member spots what appears to be flashes of orange light along the ground, but the source could not be located. Josh later speculates that the worms are folklore for snakes and acid-secreting bombardier beetles.
203 | Cambodia | Wild Man | Josh goes Cambodia in search of ape-like wild man. In the village of Oyadao, he meets the daughter of man who says she was missing for 18 years, and supposedly living with the creature. The woman doesn't speak, so the details of her experience are unknown. To test paternity, Josh takes saliva samples from the woman and her father. In another village, Josh meets locals who claim the wild man kills their livestock. At night the FLIR catches a large heat signature along a road, but Josh believes it to be a tiger. Later, the paternity test is inconclusive as the saliva did not yield viable DNA. |
Zambia | Mokele-Mbembe, | Josh goes to Zambia to hunt down a sauropod dinosaur said to be living in the swamps around Lake Bangweulu. On the lake, in daylight, the team spots something big and long moving in the water. The creature disappears and something large passes under the boat. At night, the team again picks up something big under the boat and Josh catches a thermal signature in the water. Later, the video footage is analyzed and after enhancing, the objects are clearly hippos. Josh believes these hippos and crocs are being mistaken for the Mbembe sightings.
204 | Vietnam | Tarasque | Josh goes Vietnam's Halong Bay in search of the Tarasque, a sea serpent described to be 30 meters long. The investigation is conducted near some sea caves where the creature purportedly lurks. A fishfinder detects a large creature pass under the boat and Josh goes diving to get a closer look, but finds nothing. Later, Josh takes a kayak into a sea cave and something big enters behind him. Josh hears loud splashing but whatever it is remains unseen. Returning to the boat, the team puts out baits and monitors the area. The next day a large fish-like creature is captured on video eating the baits. After analysis, the fish is determined to be a whale shark which is native to the area. |
Tanzania | Popobawa | The team goes to the African island of Zanzibar in search of the Popobawa, a bat-like creature rumored to attack people at night. In Zanzibar City's Stone Town quarter, Josh interviews a man who claims the Popobawa raped him. Later, a doctor who claims the attacks are so severe, he was contracted by the government to help deal with the creature. The team sets up a night vigil over the city by filming from the rooftop of a tall building. Josh also patrol the streets below. Later, the roof cameras pick up a strange light near a church steeple, and soon a bat-like creature is spotted flying between buildings. After reviewing the video, the creature appears to be just a normal bat. Later, Josh learns that the reports of Popobawa attacks seem to increase during local elections and believes the creature to be nothing more than a political scare tactic.
205 | Brazil | Mapinguary | Josh goes into the Amazon Rainforest in search of the Mapinguary, a giant ground sloth-like creature that is depicted as having a single eye, a mouth located on its stomach, and emitting a foul odor. In São Paulo, Josh talks with a scientist who believes the creature is a remnant of an animal that went extinct 10,000 years ago. The team goes to Porto Velho to interview eyewitnesses, and is directed down a river to where the most recent sighting happened. Investigating at night, the team find themselves surrounded by grunting sounds and breaking branches. Later, they find large palms that were ripped open by something massive. Later, Josh has the sounds analyzed by a zoologist who suggests the grunts to be from a Tapir, but thinks it is plausible that a giant sloth could still lurk somewhere in the vast Amazon. |
Zambia | Kongomato | Josh goes to Zambia in search of the Kongomato, a Pterodactyl-like creature that reportedly attacks people. In Lusaka, Josh meets a man who claims he and a friend were attacked. Josh is directed to the swamps near Lake Mweru where the most recent encounters have been reported. During the trip, Josh stops at a wildlife refuge to talk to a conservationist who believes storks and bats are being mistaken for the creature. At the swamp, Josh and team encounter a swarm of thousands of bats. Later that night, the team is buzzed by something "big" and it's caught on video. Back in L.A., Josh has a zoo curator analyze the video, but he determines it to be nothing more than a bat.
206 | Brazil | Giant Anaconda | Josh and team spend two nights along the Amazon River in search of giant anacondas, reportedly 60 feet or more in length, and powerful enough to kill an ox. Josh first visits a reptile preserve to learn more about anacondas and how to handle them. Along the river, Josh interviews local natives to figure out the best place to encounter the snake. While setting up camp, the team realizes they are completely unprepared should one of them get bitten by a poisonous snake, however, they press on. The cameras pick a large disturbance in the water implying a large creature moving through that area and two large eyes are picked up on a light source. They continue the investigation finding only a molting anaconda and a boa constrictor, but they are normal for their size. Josh does not dismiss the possibility that such an immense snake could still linger somewhere in the unexplored Amazon. |
