Andrea and Lamar were from different worlds when they met. Andrea was a Mormon single mother with three children living in Lehi, UT, while Lamar was a former up-and-coming rapper who was finishing up an 18 year stint in prison in California.
Love After Lockup's first season showed Lamar being released from prison and spending time with Andrea and her children.
But after his release, Lamar surprised Andrea with some news she wasn't expecting -- that he couldn't parole in Utah, so she and her children would have to move to the Los Angeles area if they were going to have a future together.
Then, in rapid fashion, Love After Lockup viewers suddenly saw Andrea tell her kids they were moving to California, Andrea announce that she and Lamar were getting married, and Andrea and Lamar get married with her Mormon friends among those in attendance.
During a Love After Lockup: Where Are They Now? special that aired on WE tv in November 2018, Andrea revealed things hadn't gone well since the couple got married.
During a video chat with her friends back in Utah, Andrea revealed Lamar had ended up back in prison on a parole violation after he was caught hanging out with "one of his old gang homies" who was carrying a gun.
In addition, with Lamar back in prison, Andrea and her children were living one their own in a dangerous area that was so bad that Andrea and her children were locked down and hiding in their home because a shooting had just taken place outside moments earlier.
"I'm out here by myself, with my kids," Andrea told her friends. "His family -- they don't like me, I don't get along with them. I don't have anybody out here... I'm a single mom again in the 'hood, I'm basically alone."
Andrea told her friends she wanted to move back to Utah, however she was afraid of feeling like a failure if she left California.
According to a post-special update, Lamar had served five months to date for his parole violation, and Andrea and her children were still living in California.
Andrea and Lamar are one of the five former Love After Lockup couples starring in the show's new Love After Lockup: Life After Lockup spinoff, which has shown Lamar was subsequently released from prison.
Love After Lockup: Life After Lockup's preview trailer has also shown Andrea and Lamar arguing over Andrea's insistence that they leave California and move to Utah, which they appear to have visited for the holidays.
